15.12.2003: Meldung: Wild Oats Markets will donate sales to scholarship program
The new Wild Oats Natural Marketplace store in Park City today announced that 5 percent of its sales on Monday, Dec. 15 would be donated to the Egyptian Theatre"s Youtheatre Teacher Scholarship Program.
This is the first of the new store"s four annual 5 percent days, which were established to give something back to local communities by donating proceeds to nonprofit organizations that have small budgets and big hearts. "Wild Oats is always very active in our local communities, and we feel this is a great way to give back to Park City and to local nonprofit organizations that really need our support," said Mark Regni, store director for the Park City Wild Oats store. "The Egyptian Theatre is an incredible nonprofit organization that provides a valuable service to our community by offering training for children ages 4 - 18 in our area. We hope that our customers will make a point to come into our store on Dec. 15 so that we can donate a sizeable amount to this charity on our new store"s first 5 percent Day."
On Monday, Dec. 15, the Egyptian Theatre"s Youtheatre Teacher Scholarship Program will receive a donation that equals 5 percent of the store"s total sales for that day. The store"s next 5 perent Day will be held in February of 2004. Groups that are selected for donations are consistent with the Company"s mission of promoting health and well-being, and typically include hunger relief organizations, environmental groups, educational foundations, animal rescue organizations, and nonprofits that provide support for underprivileged or terminally ill individuals.
Every Wild Oats Natural Marketplace sponsors four local 5 percent Days every year to benefit local charitable organizations. In 2002, the Company donated more than 1.2 million dollars through these and other charitable giving programs. Nonprofit groups can apply for 5 percent Days and other charitable giving opportunities at donation stations in the stores. The Company also supports local charitable organizations through food donations, benefit events and its Wooden Nickel program, which allows customers who bring their own shopping bag to the store to make a 5 cent donation to one of several local charities in lieu of receiving a nickel refund.
