WATERBURY, Vt.-- Dec. 8, 2003--Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) announced today that the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company has placed a selection of Newman"s Own(R) Organics coffees on the shelves of over 330 stores. Stop & Shop, a member of the AHOLD (NYSE: AHO) family of companies, is the largest food retailer in New England with over 57,000 associates serving customers in five states. The coffees include Newman"s Special Blend, Nell"s Breakfast Blend, Newman"s Special Blend Decaf, and a delicious flavored coffee, Cafe Almond Biscotti.

Don Barberio, Vice President Supermarket Channel, said, "In offering coffees from Newman"s Own(R) Organics, Stop & Shop is providing customers with an opportunity to sample some excellent coffees while making a positive difference in the quality of life and the quality of the environment where these coffees are grown. I look forward to working with Stop & Shop to develop this program that represents a real win-win for everyone involved."
