Telvent GIT S.A., the Global RealTime IT Company, today announced that Brazilian company, Saneamento de Águas de Minas Gerais (Copasa), had awarded a ten and a half million euro contract to the Company to automate the distribution of water in the Brazilian region of Belo Horizonte.
The project involves the integration of systems that help manage the Copasa water distribution network that supplies over four and a half million consumers in more than 600 municipalities. It includes a Geographic Information System (GIS) for conducting water network representation and a maintenance management system for the different distribution network devices. Telvent will also be responsible for the implementation and integration of specialized software for management and operation of the region"s treated water distribution and wastewater networks.
Telvent Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Manuel Sanchez Ortega, stated "We are very pleased to win this substantial environment sector contract as we continue to build our business in the strategically important region of Latin America. Noteworthy projects executed by Telvent in Latin America include an integrated water cycle management system in Lima, Peru, an environmental management system for the Cauca Valley corporation, in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, and an early warning system for the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service of Bolivia.
