WATERBURY, Vt.-- March 10, 2005--Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) today announced the appointment of T.J. Whalen as Vice President of Marketing, effective March 14, 2005. The Company also made public its plan to reorganize its sales and marketing responsibilities into separate but related functions, upon the previously announced departure of Dan Martin, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. A search for Vice President of Sales is underway.
T.J. Whalen began his career at Leo Burnett helping his clients develop and launch new consumer products. He led new product and category development efforts as well as consumer and brand promotion for Kellogg"s, Philip Morris, Patagonia and other consumer goods manufacturers. Mr. Whalen began consulting for Green Mountain Coffee Roasters in 2002, helping the Company define its growth strategy and marketing initiatives. He subsequently joined the Company as Director of Brand and Market Development, driving significant growth by expanding Green Mountain"s leadership in single-cup coffee, as well as through expansion of its Fair Trade Certified(TM) and organic coffee lines including Newman"s Own(R) Organics. Mr. Whalen was promoted to Vice President of National Foodservice and Brand Development in 2004, with management responsibilities across both Sales and Marketing. Now as Vice President of Marketing, Mr. Whalen will focus on building the value of the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters brand and increasing demand for the Company"s products. He holds a B.A. from Dartmouth College.
