1.3.2004: Meldung: Suez Subsidiary Receives Contracts from Casablanca
SITA (SUEZ Environnement) has just been awarded one of the three lots in the international call for tenders launched by the Town of Casablanca for delegated waste services management. With a 10-year term and a total turnover of 120 million Euro, the contract includes a capital investment program of 8 million Euros and comes into effect on 1 March 2004.
The contract concerns urban cleaning and domestic waste collection services for the city center, the business districts, the residential sectors and the old Medina running along the Atlantic coast for nearly one kilometer, or a total population of nearly 1.2 million inhabitants.
SITA, which already supplies waste services to some 75 million people around the world, will assist the Town of Casablanca in setting-up and implementing its environmental waste policy, thereby sustainably improving the living standards of the citys inhabitants. In addition to its services, SITA will run public information and awareness campaigns on urban cleaning. At present, the Town of Casablanca produces 3,400 tons of waste every day, or 1 million tons a year.
In signing the contract, the municipal authorities of Casablanca are reinforcing their ties with SUEZ and its affiliate LYDEC, which has been in charge of the management of the drinking water, sanitation and electricity services for the entire city since 1997.
SUEZ ENVIRONMENT, a division of SUEZ, provides equipment and services that protect the environment and deliver the essentials of life.
