A new contract worth €210 million euros for Connex in the Netherlands

Connex, the Transport Division of Veolia Environnement has won a contract worth €210 million to operate regional and urban bus services in the region of Apeldoorn, located in the province of Gelderland.

The contract will last six years and from December 2004, Connex will operate 204 urban and regional buses and employ 400 drivers.

« After having won the regional bus concession in Utrecht Province and the Fast Ferries in the south-eastern part of the country, this contract is a great success for Connex » said Stéphane Richard, Chief Executive Officer.

This contract is a recognition of Connex"s expertise in countries where there is high quality public transport, and it consolidates Connex"s growth strategy in the European market.

With about 2,810 employees, 1,430 buses, 280 taxis and two ferries, Connex Transport Nederland has been operating the following concessions since 2001:

· the BBA bus company in the Brabant"s region and the call centre PZN in Tilburg;
· the bus company "Stadsbus Maastricht Groep";
· the regional bus company in the southern part of Limburg "Limex";
· the regional bus company in the north-western part of Utrecht province;
· the ferry service between Vlissingen and Breskens in Zeeland province.
