24.10.2005: Meldung: Procter & Gamble has published its 2005 Sustainability Report.
The web-based document outlines a number of highlights of 2004-05, including the launch of innovative cold-water washing powders in North America, the UK and France, which P&G hopes will make a significant contribution to energy reduction efforts. In the US, it is estimated that cold-water washing could save 10 per cent of the energy consumed by all domestic appliances, resulting in a cut in greenhouse gas emissions of between 26 and 34 million tons.
Other highlights include P&G"s achievement of being recognized, for the sixth consecutive year, as sustainability leader in its sector by the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, as well as another year of increased overall eco-efficiency in its plants, with nearly 96 per cent of all incoming ingredients and energy leaving production sites as packaged product.
The report also features a six-page section on P&G"s Children Safe Drinking Water programme, which in conjunction with several partners aims to make progress towards one of the Millennium Development Goals of halving the population without access to safe drinking water by 2015. So far the programme has delivered the equivalent of 220 million litres of safe drinking water for disaster relief and to new social markets (visit www.pghsi for more info on PUR).
