25.5.2005: Meldung: SatCon Technology Corp.: Photovoltaic Inverters Lead Market in Efficiency
SatCon"s Photovoltaic Inverters Lead Market in Efficiency
Tuesday May 24, 8:44 am ET
BOSTON-- May 24, 2005--SatCon Technology Corporation? (Nasdaq NM: SATC - News), a developer and manufacturer of power control electronics today announced that it has successfully re-listed five of its PowerGate-PV photovoltaic inverter designs on the California Energy Commission"s (CEC) list of eligible inverters.
The California Energy commission required on April 1, 2005 all providers of photovoltaic inverters to resubmit their products for a standardized testing protocol based on an Underwriter"s Laboratory (UL) testing regime. This new testing protocol resulted in weighing DC to AC conversion efficiency at values that more closely reflect realistic inverter operating parameters rather than peak efficiency as measured in a controlled laboratory environment. The list is also used by the administrators of California"s Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) to determine which products qualify for the program.
As a result of the revised testing protocol, SatCon PowerGate photovoltaic inverters have proven to have efficiencies that are on average 1% higher and as much as 2% higher than comparable products. These results allow PV installers and users to make predictable photovoltaic system performance evaluations, leading to more accurate calculation for payback of the system cost. The conversion efficiency values are used to determine the amount of rebate incentive available to the purchaser. Financial incentives for qualifying commercial photovoltaic power systems in California are calculated for 2005 at $3.50 per watt. For a 100 KW system, each point of higher efficiency would yield an additional $3,500 to the system purchaser.
SatCon expects to complete testing of 6 additional designs over the next 8 weeks.
