27.1.2004: Meldung: Ionics handles projects for semiconductor manufacturer

Ionics, Incorporated, a global leader in water purification and wastewater treatment, announced that it has been selected by Taiwan"s largest semiconductor manufacturer to handle four different wastewater projects. Ionics was awarded this contract because of its unique wastewater treatment offerings, including its proprietary EnChem® technology. This wastewater treatment process is used to treat copper CMP (chemical mechanical planerization) wastewater, removing copper and other contaminants from semiconductor waste streams in order to meet regulatory requirements for wastewater discharge and make the water available for re-use.

Ionics" innovative EnChem process incorporates a patented membrane technology which has been evaluated and installed at semiconductor facilities for the treatment of copper CMP, silica and alumina CMP, fluoride, arsenic, and other heavy metals. According Bill McMahon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Ionics, "The EnChem technology requires a minimal facility footprint and it provides semiconductor clients such as our Taiwan customer with lower total cost-of-ownership than traditional methods of wastewater treatment and disposal."
