VEOLIA WATER WINS €90 MILLION INDUSTRIAL SERVICES
CONTRACT IN CZECH REPUBLIC
Veolia Water, the water division of Veolia Environnement, has signed its largest industrial services contract to date in the Czech Republic, with Synthesia, a member of the Unipetrol group, which is the Czech Republic"s leader in chemicals and one of the country"s biggest companies.
The contract covers the operation of Synthesia"s wastewater treatment facility. The 200,000 per capita equivalents capacity plant also treats wastewater from the city of Pardubice (population of 100,000 in eastern Bohemia), where the company is located.
The 10-year contract is worth total cumulative revenue of €90 million and will come into effect on September 1, 2003. It involves integrating 60 employees.
Operation of this plant offers Veolia Water a strategic advantage for growth in the region of eastern Bohemia.
Veolia Water is market leader in municipal and industrial water services in the Czech Republic. It manages in this country, water and wastewater services for 3.5 million people in this country, generating revenue of €280 million in 2002 and employing a workforce of more than 5,700.
In addition, Veolia Water signed a contract in Hungary with Hajdú-Bét, a major poultry slaughterhouse located in Debrecen, in the east of the country. The 3-year contract covers the operation of a wastewater pretreatment plant and is worth total cumulative revenue of €1 million.
