AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 5 / Active Power, Inc. today announced that Ian Bitterlin has joined the company to lead the sales efforts for the European, Middle East, and African (EMEA) markets. Ian"s appointment reinforces Active Power"s strategy to dramatically grow its global power solutions business.
Ian joins Active Power from Emerson Network Power, where he was Managing Director for the UK and Holland. While at Emerson, he had P&L and operational responsibility for the Sales and Service aspects of the business. He re- established Emerson"s name as a key player in the power protection industry in the UK and Europe where he developed new markets and channels, and provided significant commercial and operational improvements for internal controls which resulted in enhanced overall market competitiveness.
Prior to Emerson, Ian held roles as Sales Director and Chief Technology Officer at ICW Power where he designed innovative critical power and cooling solutions for numerous Internet Data Center clients. Ian was also Managing Director of UK Sales and Service for Liebert-Europe, where he managed sales initiatives through direct means, as well as via distributors, resellers, and contractors.
Earlier in his career, he spent seven years as the UK Sales Director for Piller, a manufacturer of static, rotary and diesel UPS systems. In this role, Ian was the subject matter expert at numerous conferences covering critical power and power quality topics.
