WATERBURY, Vt.----April 7, 2005--Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. (NASDAQ: GMCR) has been ranked No. 2 on Business Ethics magazine"s 2005 list of "100 Best Corporate Citizens." This is the third consecutive year that Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has appeared on this prestigious list, after being ranked number No. 5 in 2004 and No. 8 in 2003. Green Mountain Coffee is in good company on this year"s list, sharing honors with such businesses as Cummins, Inc. (#1), Hewlett-Packard Co. (#7), Starbucks Corp. (#42), and FEDEX Corp. (#70).
This year, Business Ethics" "100 Best Corporate Citizens" marks its sixth anniversary. During these six years KLD Research & Analytics in Boston has provided the social data for this recognition. The performance of each company is ranked in service to eight areas including shareholders, governance, community, non-U.S. stakeholders, employees, customers, environment, and diversity. All eight variables, which have different scales, are standardized to arrive at a company"s performance relative to its peers.
