AAER Inks Manufacturer Warranty Insurance Program

AAER Inc., Canada's only original equipment manufacturer of wind turbines of 1 megawatt ("MW") and more, announced today that it has secured a global insurance policy with a top tier insurer to provide financial backing for its wind turbine manufacturer warranty program in North America.

"This is another important milestone for AAER, as we've just improved the value proposition to potential customers. This insurance policy provides an additional level of comfort for our customers globally and improves the bankability of our product. This insurance policy also minimizes the required cash provision levels on our balance sheet for warranty purposes, thus enabling AAER to make an optimal use of its liquidities," said Dave Gagnon, President and CEO of AAER.

This insurance policy has been devised with the collaboration of Holmes Murphy & Associates', Renewable Energy Division, and the Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company of Canada, (BI&I), a division of the HSB Group, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. The two year wind turbine generator mechanical breakdown warranty covers the nacelles, towers, and blades for up to the full value of AAER's wind turbines. BI&I will issue a warranty for each wind turbine generator which is linked to each wind turbine's serial number.

"We are excited to see this strategic partnership with AAER and BI&I. Together we have designed and implemented the first customized stand-alone warranty program backed by a North American domiciled insurance company. We feel that the way this warranty is structured makes it a superior product and will in time become the industry standard," said Jim Swift, President and CEO of Holmes Murphy & Associates.
