Agbar Group Announces Q1 Results
• The income for the period increases by 9.7% in relation to the previous year.
• The profit is 17.3% lower than that of the same period of the previous year, because then atypical results were recorded for 19.2 million euros after tax.
In the first quarter of 2008, the Agbar Group achieved considerable growth in the main economic magnitudes which explain the business evolution. Thus, the operating income went from 687.2 million euros in the first quarter of 2007 to 753.9 million euros in 2008 (+9.7%) and the profit from operations increased from 91 million euros to 112.6 (+23.8%). These increases are not reflected in the net profit attributable to the parent, which goes from 45.8 million euros in the first quarter of 2007 to 37.9 now (-17.3%), because in the first quarter of the previous year there were atypical results for a total of 19.2 million euros, much higher than the 0.5 million euros recorded in the first quarter of 2008.
Improvement of the results in water and health
In water and wastewater, the operating income goes from 370.4 to 406.3 million euros (+9.7%) and the profit from operations from 72.1 to 88.4 million euros (+22.6%). The water and wastewater activities contribute 54% and 79%, respectively, of the Group’s total operating income and profit from operations.
As for health, the operating income rises from 300.5 to 332.2 million euros (+10.5%) and the profit from operations from 19.3 to 25 (+29.5%). Health thus contributes 44% and 22%, respectively, of Agbar’s total operating income and profit from operations.
The most noteworthy occurrence of the quarter was the Group’s sound organic growth, which was around 10%, both in water and wastewater and in health.
