Capstone Turbine Corporation: Initial Order for New Hybrid UPS for Green Data Centers
Die untenstehende Meldung ist eine Original-Meldung des Unternehmens. Sie ist nicht von der ECOreporter.de-Redaktion bearbeitet. Die presserechtliche Verantwortlichkeit liegt bei dem meldenden Unternehmen.
Capstone Turbine Corporation, the world’s leading clean technology manufacturer of microturbine energy systems, received an initial order valued in excess of $1 million dollars for twelve of its patented C65 Hybrid Uninterruptible Power Source (UPS) units. Capstone’s Hybrid UPS is the first UPS system in the world that integrates low-emission microturbines directly with a dual-conversion UPS to provide power for mission-critical loads. In addition, the company announced that it has signed its fourth Secure Power UPS distributor, Regatta Solutions (www.regattait.com) headquartered in Rancho Santa Margarita, California.
Hybrid UPS is a key part of Capstone's Secure Power product line that also includes UpSource, which is designed to provide prime power for data centers. Both Secure Power products offer eight 9's of reliability in common N + 1 configurations, all with less maintenance and lower cost of ownership than traditional battery-based UPS systems.
Capstone launched its Secure Power 83kVA-664kVA UPS product line in June 2008 and continues to see interest for both the UpSource and Hybrid UPS products. The UpSource solution offers efficient primary power that runs parallel to, yet independent of, the utility grid, and the new patented Hybrid UPS product offers dual-conversion power electronics via three modes - high efficiency, standard UPS and emergency backup.
“Capstone turbines when used as a UPS application are considered clean-and-green because they emit low greenhouse-gas emissions and do not produce hazardous materials common with traditional battery-based UPS systems,” said Darren Jamison, Capstone’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Capstone’s two Secure Power offerings are the world’s only microturbine-powered UPS solutions that can offer clean, IT-grade power produced from microturbines, the utility or a combination of both, which results in highly economical, clean and reliable power.
“The Hybrid UPS will be a key component of green, energy-efficient data centers,” said Jim Crouse, Capstone's Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “In many situations, Hybrid UPS can be used in a combined-heat-and-power application, making it extremely efficient since the microturbines can provide electricity, cooling and heating. In addition to generating electricity, the microturbines’ clean waste-heat energy can drive absorption chillers to meet a data centers cooling needs in the summer and support heating needs in the winter.”
Regatta Solutions is the latest member of Capstone’s Secure Power family that will cover seven counties located in Southern California: Imperial County, Kern County, Los Angeles County, Orange County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, Santa Barbara County, San Diego County, and Ventura County.
“Regatta Solutions offers organizations a way to simplify and reduce the life-cycle cost of managing and maintaining their equipment and software assets. Regatta’s Total Asset Control program simplifies the arduous task of managing assets and maintenance contracts, while reducing costs, increasing productivity and improving revenue,” said Steven Acevedo, President of Regatta Solutions. “Regatta is pleased to offer the Capstone Secure Power systems to help our customers conserve energy and cut operational costs by creating two forms of energy: electricity and heat,” added Acevedo.
