BREAKTHROUGH YEAR FOR TOMRA IN GAS STATION SEGMENTUntil a few years ago, automated return solutions at gas stations were relatively unheard of in European deposit markets. TOMRA set out to change this with the introduction of its reverse vending machine UNO in 2005, a compact and easily affordable machine developed to meet the particular requirements of small stores. Sales of this machine have steadily increased since its release, and a number of large contracts have now materialized, representing a significant breakthrough in this new market segment for TOMRA.

Germany
Germany's 2nd largest gas station operator Shell and Tomra Systems GmbH have signed a framework agreement for delivery of UBC recycling solutions to Shell gas stations. So far orders for 300 UNOs have been received. Shell's target is to have approximately 1,000 of its stations equipped with UNO by middle of 2009.

Finland
During 2008 the biggest gas station chain in Finland, Neste, installed almost 90 UNOs at its gas stations.

In the fourth quarter of 2008 TOMRA signed a contract with the Finnish brewery Olvi for using UNO to roll out an innovative advertising concept at Finnish gas stations.  The contract currently covers advertising rights for 50 machines which will be equipped with advertising material for an initial period of three years.
