21.3.2003: Meldung: Trojan: 10.9 Million Dollar Contract

Trojan Technologies Inc. (TUV:TSX) announced today that it has received an order valued at US$10.9 million (CDN$16 million) for an ultraviolet wastewater disinfection system.

The contract, to be installed at the Valley Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant near Birmingham, Alabama, calls for the delivery of eight Trojan UV4000Plus(TM) units which, when operational, will treat up to 600 million gallons (2.3 million cubic metres) of wastewater a day. The construction schedule for the plant is still being finalized but the UV systems are expected to be delivered during 2004.

The Valley Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing a major expansion so that it has the capacity to treat large increases in water flow during storm events. "We selected Trojan"s UV equipment because it is the most cost-effective solution to ensuring that the plant is capable of handling these increased flows," said the engineers at F.W. Dougherty Engineering and Associates, Inc.

The consulting engineering firm of F.W. Dougherty and Associates of Birmingham, Alabama, is responsible for the overall project design. Brasfield and Gorrie LLC, also of Birmingham, was awarded the construction contract to install the UV systems.

"As well, UV is a chemical-free treatment. It is environmentally friendly, and far safer than having to stockpile large amounts of chlorine," added the engineers.

Allan Bulckaert, President and CEO of Trojan, noted that this is the third major contract in the region awarded to the company with a capacity to treat a combined flow of over one billion gallons of water each day. "This demonstrates our product and engineering strength. Trojan has established itself as the trusted name for municipal water treatment," he said.

This increases the company"s strong order backlog position to $85 million of which $43.5 million is for 2003 and $41.5 million is for 2004.

Trojan designs, manufactures and sells UV systems for municipal wastewater and drinking water facilities, as well as for the industrial, commercial and residential markets. The company also provides UV treatment for the removal of toxic chemicals from water. With over 3,000 municipal facilities in over 25 countries using its technology, Trojan has the largest installed base of UV systems in the world.

The company has over 350 employees around the world. Headquartered in London, Ontario, Trojan has offices in Germany, the U.K., Netherlands, Norway, Spain, and the U.S. Its shares are listed on The Toronto Stock Exchange under the trading symbol TUV.
